Combined Irish Regiments
Old comrades association

ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT: Maj Gen AG Denaro CBE
ASSOCIATION VICE-PRESIDENT: PJ Scott Esq.

The future of the Association

It is a brave person who forecasts the future however the history of the Irish Soldier goes on. The Royal Irish Regiment formed on the 1 July 1992 ,following the merger of the Royal Irish Rangers and the Ulster Defence Regiment, still keeps alive and well the long and proud traditions of the Irish infantry soldier. The Irish Guards that date back to 1900 maintain a position of pride in the Foot Guards of the Guards Division. Our Association is proud that serving soldiers of these fine regiments continue to become members of the Combined Irish Regiments Old Comrades Association.

Veterans from other regimental associations are always welcomed, particularly those that can demonstrate family connection with a former Irish soldier.

It is of interest to note that wreaths for some of the regiments disbanded in 1922 are paid for in perpetuity by their Regimental Associations or individuals who have maintained their family ties with their regiments despite there being few old soldiers of these regiments still alive.
