WAR RAISED Divisions.

 

During August and September 1914, three Irish Divisions were raised and at the time of formation, their battalion strength was as listed below.  

10th (Irish) Division. 

Authorised in August 1914 and fought at Gallipoli, in Greece and across the Middle East.

29th Infantry Brigade.

(became the Divisional Pioneer battalion in March 1915)

Authorised in September 1914 and fought on the Western Front at the Somme, at Yypres and during the German Spring Offensive of 1918.

36th (Ulster) Division.

Raised during September 1914 and fought on the Western Front at the Somme, Messines, Ypres, Cambrai and during the German Spring Offensive of 1918 before taking part in the final Allied advances in the autumn of 1918.
