National Defence Medal
During the Ordinary Meeting held on the 21 February, the chairman recognised that members of the Association may wish to persuade their Member of Parliament to support the Veterans National Defence Medal Campaign. It is clear that, whatever your politics, if you as a veteran are to be considered for this potential award, more Members of Parliament are needed to support the Early Day Motion (EDM) that has been placed before Parliament. The Association's governing committee agreed that the Association should facilitate the distribution of the campaign's standard content letter that can be used by Association members in correspondence to their Member of Parliament.
The letter, that can be personalised with the sender's name and
address and the name of the sender's MP, is available for download
from this web page (see below). There is a choice of document that
you can download. An Adobe Reader document that you can print,
complete by hand with your personal information and MP's name and
send "as is" by Royal Mail. If you have a word processor on your
computer you can alternatively download the RTF file that you can
open in applications such as Microsoft Word(TM) or Open
Office, personalise and then print ready for sending to your Member
of Parliament. Note that the RTF file has been compressed in Zip
format. Once downloaded to your computer users of Windows XP and
Windows 7 can open this file by simply the file name. Other
operating systems may need a decompression utility such as
WinZip.
