Colonel HK McAllister     OBE TD DL BDS DGDP RCS(Eng) VR

Colonel Hubert McAllister joined the Territorial Army in 1974 when he enlisted into Queen's Universty OTC and where he served for two years before being posted as an Officer Cadet to the 5th Volunteer Battalion, the Royal Irish Rangers with C Company in Lurgan, co Armagh. Commissioned into the Royal Irish Rangers in October 1977, he subsequently held a variety of Regimental appointments before becoming 2.i.c. in 1991.

 

He attended the TA Command and Staff Course at Camberley in January 1992 and then transferred to the Royal Army Dental Corps and was posted to 253 (North Irish) Field Ambulance where he assumed command in July 1992 and remained in that role until July 1997.

 

Following  a period of leave, Colonel McAllister took up the post of SO1 Medical at HQ 107 (Ulster) Brigade prior to his appointment on promotion to command 204 (North Irish) Field Hospital from June 1999 to June 2002. He was then appointed Colonel TA/Deputy Commander 107 (Ulster) Brigade in 2004 until its disbandment in December 2006 when he became Colonel TA/Reserves HQ 39 Infantry Brigade up to 2007.

 

Colonel McAllister left civilian Dental Practice in 2007 after almost thirty years, since which time he has been on FTRS service with the Defence Dental Service until his retirement in December 2017, then having completed over 40 years service with the Colours.
